This silvered example is engraved “PRIVATE S. OAKES 2387 4TH LIECESTER TRANSPOSRT”. Complete with chain. engraving clear clean condition.
Private Sidney Oakes a native of Sheffield was born in 1893. He volunteered for service with the 4th Bn and landed in France on the 2nd March 1915. He was Killed in Action whilst serving with the 1/4th Bn on the 12th March 1918
