WW1 2nd Bn South Lancashire Regiment / Scots Guards POW Group of Four Medals.

Awarded to Private William J Brown, who landed in France with the Battalion on the 14th August 1914 and later transferred to the Scots Guards. Comprising: 1914 Star with slip on clasps “8714 Pte 2/S Lanc R”, British War Medal, Victory Medal, “Pte. S Lan R”, Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (GVR FM Bust), “6449742 GDMN W J Brown S GDS”.  Medals have been cleaned and are with edge knocks, PLEASE NOTE, BWM appears to be Officially re-impressed GC

Private William J Brown was born in 1892 and as pre war regular soldier landed in France with the 2nd Bn South Lancashire Regiment on the 14th August 1914. On the 3rd October 1914 he was reported wounded, the War Department list of January 1915 reclassified this as missing and the list of 19th September 1915 confirmed he was a POW. After the war he transferred to the Scots Guards and was awarded the Long Service & Good Conduct Medal in 1926.
