WW1 Period Trench Fighting Club.
A very unusual and rare example, of turned wood, with ball head mounted with boot studs. The shaft with ring turnings to the grip, and drilled hole for a lanyard. The wood is a good natural age colour with a patina. The overall length is 19 inches.
I have not come across this rare design of club before looking at the Imperial War Museum online collection they have a round ball head example without studs attributed as Turkish, this maybe a variant on the Turkish pattern.
