WW1 KOYLI Battle of Mons Period 1905 Pattern Cap.

A superb and very rare example of the 1905 service dress cap, the pattern The BEF wore during the early days of the Great War.

This example is in sleepy untouched original condition retaining original as worn cap badge of the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. This is complemented with small black light infantry pattern buttons, which support the correct thin leather chinstrap. The interior with full oilskin lining and sweatband. The underside of the sweatband with inspection pencil initials. This example is undated which is not uncommon with early war contacts.

Overall condition is very good with few small moth holes, not effecting the overall appearance.

This is one of the rarest of the British Army pattern worn during the Great War.
Not to be confused with the later 1922 pattern, the main feature being the small rounded peak and thin leather chinstrap.
