WW1 Royal Navy / Turkish Navy Ships Tampion Sultan Osman 1.

This is an original ships Tampion for the Turkish Dreadnought Battleship Sultan Osman 1, which was sized by the Royal Navy and became HMS Agincourt. The tampion with Turkish script is a diameter of 7 inches and mounted onto a polished teak circular mount Diameter 12 inches. Also with a small brass engraved plaque.

HMS Agincourt had an interesting start, built by Armstrong Whitworth  in 1911 for the Brazil government she was to be named the Rio de Janeiro. The ship was cancelled and was then purchased by the Ottoman Empire and renamed Sultan Osman I. As the ship was nearly completion when the First World War broke out. The British government seized her for use by the Royal Navy and she became HMS Agincourt. She would see action at Jutland and survive the war and was broken up in 1923.
