WW1 Northumberland Fusiliers Attributed Cuff Rank Tunic.

A scarce original attributed example to Captain E.J. Proctor, who whilst serving with the 6th (City) Bn Northumberland Fusiliers was wounded on two occasions.
A good sleepy example of the Cuff rank pattern uniform tunic. Tailored with Northumberland Fusiliers collar badges and buttons, with addition of “T” to the collar. Each cuff with rank stars and lace indicating a Captain and to the left cuff two bullion wound bars and to the right a single overseas service chevron. The interior with cotton lining and tailored with a large pocket, common to see in tunics intended for use in the field. The lining with original label with ink details “Capt Proctor March 1918” The uniform is now with some age storage wear, moth holes scattered throughout, one button loose but present. see photographs. Attributed Captain E.J. Proctor a pre war Territorial Officer who was commissioned into the 6th (City) Bn Northumberland Fusiliers, HQ in Newcastle. Appointed in May 1914, he landed in France on the 7th November 1915. He is noted in the war diary as leading a patrol on the night of the 25th October 1916 and is noted as wounded on the 27th October 1916, this resulting in his name appearing in the War Department Casualty List of the 3rd November 1916. He was wounded on a second occasion as he is noted as being admitted to Hospital on the 18th November 1916 with Gunshot Wounds to the hand, chest and leg. These wounds resulted in evacuation to Blighty being admitted into the London Hospital December 1916. At the time of tailoring he was only entitled to one overseas service chevron. His home address is given as Newcastle on Tyne, which was the HQ of the 6th Bn.
