Pioneer Evelyn George Sarks a native of Sheffield was a Chemist by trade having studied at Sheffield University. He enlisted on the 22nd November 1916 but after a medical board was discharged was unfit for further service on the 1st May 1917. During his short service he is confirmed as serving with the Special Brigade Poison Gas Company.
The number and award of the Silver War Badge is confirmed. However he did not serve overseas and was not awarded any campaign medals.
