Issued to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of James Herbert Elston.
The plaque has been attractively mounted into a polished oak table standing frame. This mounted with a silver engraved plaque “SERJT J.H. ELSTON 13TH BATT E YORKS REGT FELL AT SERRE NOV 13 1916”.


13/91 Sergeant James Herbert Elston was Killed in Action on the 13th November 1916.
He was a native of Hull and with the trade of brick layer volunteered in November 1914 into the 13th Bn Yorkshire Regiment which became the 4th Hull Pals, these would be known to the people of Hull as the “T’Others” Bn as they were the last to be formed. He landed in France in March 1916. Originally listed as missing he was later confirmed Killed in Action and his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial
