WW1 Royal Naval Reserve HMT Commandant Casualty Medal
A scarce Royal Navy Trawler crewman casualty 1914/15 Star was awarded to ES 2717 W.J. GAYFER ENGN R.N.R. Complete with original silk ribbon.
Engineman William James Gayfer was serving onboard H.M. Trawler Commandant operating on the East Coast when on the 2nd April 1916 his ship was mined and sunk with the loss of all hands. His wife lived at New Cleethorpes.
