A classic shaped WW1 Officer's Cap, tailored with correct thin brown leather chinstrap and GVR Bronze OSD Cap badge. The interior retaining leather sweatband and tailor's details of J & G Ross Exeter. The leather sweatband with ink name "F.H. irsdale Lieut Devon (Fortress) RE. Overall condition is good small moth hole to crown and edge.

Lieutenant F.H. Irsdale is confirmed as serving with the Devon Fortress Engineers and was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant in 1932. I assume he purchased his cap from J & G Ross who were still holding WW1 stock.
