WW1 Great War Memorial Plaque Rare Spelling Mistake ?

Issued to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of “Ernest Medcroft” GC.
Unique Name

There is no Great War casualty with the name Ernest Medcroft, this appears to be a rare spelling mistake and I believe that the plaque refers to S/14375 Private Ernest Edgar Medcraft 13th Bn Rifle Brigade, who is listed on the Medal Index Card and Solders Died in the Great War as Ernest Medcraft, this is the closest I can match to the plaque. He Died of wounds on the 18th September 1916 having landed in France after the 1st January 1916. He lived at Dalston North London
