Worn by Miss Edith Hext of Newton Abbot.
The armband of the regulation pattern. Ink stamp for Devon VAD and a second Army Medical Service 1915. Ink name of E.K. Hext. The armband came with a lucky beadwork butterfly brooch attached, possibly made by a patient as a gift. GC slight age wear.

Miss Edith Hext of Constantine Newton Abbot volunteered as a Nurse on the 6th October 1914. She served at Exeter Hospital until 1915 when she transferred to Newton Abbot Volunteer Hospital until April 1919.
