RAF Cold War Flying Helmet & Clothing.
A selection of Flying Kit worn by Flight Lieutenant John Barrett who in the 1970’s / 80’s flew as a Pilot with no 6 Air Experience Flight RAF Abingdon which operated the chipmunk two seater trainer.
Comprising:
MK1A Bone Dome Size 3 Regular. Complete with tinted visor (with cover) and internal web harness. GC service wear.
Flying Helmet. Green canvas Size 3 (1976) complete with earphones and electrics. Fitted with a H type oxygen mask, fitted with small mike and electrics. The mask with date stamp “1-71” (January 1971). Good clean condition.
Flying Suit. Green MKII (1972). This retaining original insignia: Padded Pilot Wings… Flt Lt “VRT” rank. … 6 AEF Squadron badge. The kneepads with white boards with notes as last used. GC some service wear.
White Leather Flying Gloves. Size 8 with ink name to the exterior. Service wear.
Green Aircrew jumper dated 1970
Quantity of flying maps and documents relating to 6AEF.
The overall condition is good and a memory jogger for all the EX Space Cadets who remember those 30 minute flights
