A scarce group of items to an NCO pilot Flight Sergeant Joseph Chetwood.
Comprising:
RFC Pilot Wings mounted with a head and shoulder photograph of Joseph wearing the RFC Maternity pattern uniform. This mounted into a contemporary glazed frame Size 8 x 10 inches.
Newspaper cutting showing the same photograph and details of his death.
Memorial Card for his internment at Western Churchyard Hawkestone 27th April 1917

Flight Sergeant Joseph Chetwood enlisted into the RFC in July 1915 he came from Shrewsbury Volunteering for pilot training he qualified and his ability steered him to become a pilot instructor. Based at the central flying school. On the 27th April 1917 he was instructing a young trainee who was unable to recover from a loop and crashed. Jospeh was killed the pupil walking away.
He was buried with full military honours.
